Re: engine i.d.

Hi Bud,..... welcome to the forums here at iboats.......<br />Questions are Why we're all here.......<br /><br />I don't know about your engine,... We need more info....<br /><br />I can Guess that you've got a Silverline, Newport,.. Which would be the Make,+ Model.......<br /><br />The VIN, or actually with boats it's HIN, Hull Id #.......... It Should be located on the upper most portion of the Hull casting, somewhere from the center of the transom to the starboardside of the transom........ <br />Many boats built Before 1972 Don't have HINs............<br /><br />Now, Your Engine,.......<br />Is it a 4cyl., 6 cyl., or 8 cyl. ??<br />Is it a Chevy, Ford, etc. ?? <br />Is it Mercruiser, Volvo, OMC, etc. ???<br /><br />The #s don't mean much, till you can narrow down Who'se #s they Are........<br />Also Which #s they are,... Stamped #s ?? Casting #s ?? Tag #s ??<br /><br />With a little more Info, We'll be Glad to Help you out..............

Re: engine i.d.

thanks for the welcome Bondo....my bad....was so confused bout which set of numbers to use forgot to mention that the engine is a mercruiser 120...the numbers are cast ......and it is a 4 cyl, i looked for silverline in a list of manufactuers and did'nt see it listed.....fond newport.....but i think it was a boat shop....."newport" is like a casting on the dash in the fiberglass......silverline is a sticker on the side of the boat......it has been registered in california......sticker says it was last regestered in 99.......would it be a public record that i mat be able to get a copy of ?....that should have all the info i need for a title.......correct ?........thanks for your response.....bud

Re: engine i.d.

Casting #s aren't much good,... There Might still be a Tag with merc.'s #s stamped in it... It Should be on the lower Starboard side of the engine block.. Near the Starter.....<br /><br />Reguardless,.... you've got a 153cid Chevy based engine.....<br /><br />The outdrive can be Visually Id.ed.....Go Here,.... to see if you can figure out what you've got...........<br />I'd Guess that you have a Pre-Alpha.......<br /><br />As far as the Hull,...... Wander over Here,....... and see if some of the ole' Boys there can ID it........<br /><br />Here in Ny. it's Easier to licence it as a "Home-Built", than it is to run down an old owner......<br />I don't know how it would work in Arz., But I doubt it Ever Had a Title.... Probably To Old.......
