I have just purchased a 17ft day-fisher Dory type. It came with two engines an evinrude 50hp (model no e50belcta; serial no. b004108) and a evinrude 4hp (model no:be4brcde; serial no. b0033017)

First question is what are the years of these engines?
Second - the 4hp motor start fine and revs up lovely for the first 3/4seconds then cuts out, dispite multiple attempts at different choke and throttle setting the outcome is the same - any advice?
Third - what is the optimum prop of the 50HP motor and this boat?

Re: Engine ID and Fuel Problem?

The 50 is a 1983.
The 4 is a 1986.

The 4hp has a badly restricted fuel supply and or is drawing air in the fuel line.
