Hello Everyone,

I was wondering if anyone could indentify this motor? I was told it was a johnson 9.9 hp when I found it but it has no indentifying plate(s) and the frost plug is scratched to badly to make out anything but a 9. I was hoping maybe someone here could find something that looks familiar on the motor? I know it may be a long shot but I really appreciate it!

It's a 9.5 hp. Can't tell you the year for sure, maybe late 60's early 70's.

Excellent!! Thank you very much. I've looked at some pics and videos and that seems to be what it is. I really appreciate it.

That style covered model years 1964-1973. See link below, there may be some clues in the article that could narrow down the actual year.
My grandfather bought one of these in 1971 and it's still in use today. It would push our 10 foot aluminum boat at a pretty good clip and I actually learned to waterski behind it. When I got to 70 lbs or so it was all over but I'm still amazed that I used to ski behind a 9.5 hp.
