Engine info by serial number

Howdy
I'm new to this BB and a first time boat owner so let me introduce myself. They call me Rooster and I just bought a 1993 Manta Ray 19' with a 4.3L Mercruiser. I like the boat, runs good, looks good. My apoligies if I ask stupid questions. Is there somewhere I can look up the engine serial number and find the horsepower?

Is there a thread here I should be reading first, on basic engine/boat info?

I am a fair mechanic and plan on doing any maintenance I can, but smart enough to know when to take it in to a pro.

Welcome to iboats.

If I recall correctly, a 2-barrel is a 175 and a 4-barrel is a 190.

If you have the serial # , you can go to the official Merc site.....
Just google it.......

The manual list power as 155/175
