Took boat out today for spring test run . Engine cuts outs and there is a whining noise from the engine bay . The boat shut down then I waited and crank and the boat ran fine until I went into the dock and try to load onto trailer . The whine started and the engine cuts outs and misses . Could it be Fuel cell? I am so disappointed with Volvo penta products . This is my first Volvo penta and I had nothing but trouble from the first time I ran the boat . Crack water nipple , over heat , bearing went down lower unit , on and on .

Could be the fuel cell. Most likely paint clogging the screen (common issue).

Boats need maintenance

Gxi-d 5.oI pressure test the fuel cell and the low pressure pump is out. I pulled the cell apart and the screens were clean. The low pressure pump screen had some debris but not much, Where is the cheapest or best place to get a fuel cell?

Before you shell out the $$ on a new fuel cell I would check the fuses, relays and electrical connection. Relay is about $8. Fuel cell is about $800.

An electrical meter is all you need to check for a bad fuse or relay. It very well could be the fuel assembly but before raking out that kind of money I'd like to be sure first. Good luck!

Currently dealing with this exact issue. Its def the fuel cell, most likely the lp side which is starving the HP side. Took the entire fuel cell apart and cleaned it top to bottom. Def had paint chips on the screens. Checked amperage of both lp & hp when starting and the lp is pulling upwards of 18-20 amp which is way high and in return keeps blowing the fuse. So what are my other options if any?
Also with the regulator on the top side, when taken apart, should I be able to blow through it?

Going to check out the link above now.

the fuel cell is nothing but an in-tank fuel pump, fuel cooler, and a canister all in one. the issue is the paint breaks down from the fuel and starts to clog the screens.

most of the time, a simple cleaning is all that is needed.

Took it all apart and cleaned everything vigorously. Problem still lies in the fact that LP side keeps blowing the 20amp breaker. If disconnected, no blown fuse. If taken off and tested, the amp readings are fine, when connected back and ran, amp readings are 18+. Any other suggestions? Doesn't appear possible to just purchase a LP pump without the rest of the assembly.

If it tests within limits off the boat, maybe you have a bad breaker or other power supply related issue.
