I just bought a bayliner capri 120 Force engine (first boat) the owner told me the engine slips once in a while he said the mechanic rebuilt all and did not help and thought it may be a electrical problem. engine jerks hard while driving every 2 to 6 second , I dont believe it is electrical

Re: engine jerks while driving

If it doesn't jerk in nuetral but jerks in gear, IMHO you should look real closely at your LU and/or connecting linkage.

Yes...is it doing it under acceleration...and higher cruising speeds?

Possibly jumping in and out of gear.

TMD

Re: engine jerks while driving

Hey Liner, welcome to the board. Another WI boater. :)

Sounds like jumping in and out of gear.
May be fixed with a linkage adjustment, or shiftshaft adjustment. Worse case senario, may have to replace the "clutchdog" or the forward gear.

If you plan on doing this yourself, you will need a repair manual. (click icon at bottom of page)

FYI: You should always post the year, model, and hp of the motor, when posting a question.
