I have a 95 chris craft 30 crowne -twin ford omc cobras

The startboard starter motor will continue to engage even when key is turned back to off.

The port motor is fine. I replaced the ingintion switch and it does the same thing.

If I turn the battery off it will stop and won't start again until I turn the key to engage the starter and then it continues to engage until I turn battery off again.

Stuck starter assist relay, maybe?

There's a Ford-looking starter solenoid (relay) on the engine near the shift cables on the starboard side of the carb. Since you've already replaced the ignition switch, I'd start looking there. That's the thing that sends power to the starter relay down on the starter, and that in turn spins the starter by connecting the starter motor to the battery. The easy way for the starter to get stuck in "start" mode is if that assist relay/solenoid is getting stuck in the "start" position and staying there even when the start signal is removed.

Thanks, my boat does have 2 red button looking things that are above the soleniod. Would that have anything to do with it. Is that the relay?

Nope,... Those are Circuit Breakers.....

Follow the wire from the Starter to the Battery....
