Engine "Kicks" at idle

My little 1981 7.5 Merc. was running great thanks to this forum:). At the end of the day today, it started to "kick" during low speed idle. Mostly in neutral, once or twice at very low speed forward while putting on trailer. Doesn't seem to want to stay idling in neutral unless I give it throttle. Runs fine at speed still. I recently decarbed and replaced NGK plugs with equivalent Champions. It did rain hard yesterday and my vent was open on the tank. Maybe just water in fuel?
PS, I did smack a log/stump while running upriver, if that means anything. Any input?

One more question: Should the throttle stay when I release my grip or is it normal for the speed to gradually drop off?
