Engine knock?

Ran my 1999 175 johnson last week and started to get a knocking{somewhat ticking sound} half way through my trip.When engine is first started there is no noise for about 5 minutes,then it starts in again once it heats up.Knocking increases and decreases in phase with rpm.Bad rod bearing,bad wrist pin, both?Any help appreciated,Thanks

I'm having the same prob with my 165 merc. All the rods and rockers are fine. I'm pointing my finger at a stuck hydralic valve lifter. I need to find out how to inspect them.
