I’m looking for a little advise and or experience anyone has with a engine mounted trolling motor. I have a 96 2250 Bayliner Bowrider. It has a big 7.4l bravo III engine. I want to also use this boat for fishing and trolling. I have already installed a Garmin 250C and now I looking at a trolling motor. What I’m looking at is a Minn Kota 101# engine mount trolling motor. Adding 3 more batteries is no problem. I just interested if anyone can give me any experience with a engine mounted trolling motor. I think the 101# will push this around. I use the boat as a family boat and pull skiers and tubes. So having quick take offs is a must. I want to make sure that the added trolling motor will not affect me taking off fast and getting on plane when not fishing and just playing in the boat.

Thanks for any advise I can get.

Jim

Seems to me the tow rope would be constantly tangled in this contraption when doing water sports.

Mounting a trolling motor anywhere on the stern is a bad idea to me. The way they mount the engine mounted trolling motor should not affect you hole shot. The weight of the extra batteries could have some effect.

In my opinion trolling motor needs to be mounted on the bow. It is so much eaiser to control the boat position, the stern is not an option to me. Mounted on the stern can work on a very calm day but still very little control. First day with any wind and you will be looking for a bow mount unit.

I looked at some bow mounts and not sure how I would get on installed on the bow. Hand rails and cushions are in the way. I think I am going to give the engine mount a try and see how it goes.

I was hoping that someone might have already taken the plunge and tried one of these.

Jim
