Hi!

I've been told my engine is not long enough, when I reach a Certain speed the prop comes up out of the water.

I'm not able to lower my Transom, and I really connot afford a new engine.

Butttt! I am told there is a method of lengthning the engine is this right or is someone pulling my leg?

I have a made in Japan, Mariner 30HP 1992.

Can any of you guys help me on this one please?

Might be expensive to extend motor. You might want to look into added a jack plate.

Need to call the dealer, many, actually only SOME, small motors have a motor leg extension kit to extend the motor leg, shaft and water tube 6 inches.

It may be worth a few phone calls to find out.

Bill,

A jack plate is a steel plate that bolts onto the back of the transom, allowing the motor the be mounted further out and up or down on the boat.
It's a great device to give more interior room in a boat as you can eliminate the boat well.

Try ebay for an extension kit for your motor. You can price the parts up at the dealer like CharlieB mentions , but don't be surprised at the cost.
