Engine overheat.. then loud clicking

My engine overheated last week due to a plugged manifold/riser. While on the water right after the overheat I heard a loud clicking noise coming from what seemed like the pistons.<br /><br />Someone want to give me the really bad news?<br /><br />1995 Merc. 3.0LX I/O

Have you checked the oil and run the motor since????Charlie

Checked the oil, yes. I actually had just changed it before I went out and the oil level was good. Have not run the motor since.

So the oil was fine when you checked it after the overheat?????If so that shows no water in the oil,that is a good thing.Idle the motor and take another listen.Charlie
