Can you please tell me how to determine how high or low to possition your outboard engine on your boat. Above the prob there are two (I don't know how to call it)cuts that I think suppose to be in the same level with bottom of the boat? I have a 1989 Mariner 90HP.
I hope you understand what I'm talking about and be able to help me.
Thanking you in advance.

Re: Engine possition

There are many things to take into consideration in positioning your motor on the transom such as hull type, boat type, useage, current performance, and prop type to name a few but as a general guideline you could start with the cavitation plate(first plate above the prop)even with the bottom of the hull.

I normally would say as high up as you can get it without the prop ventilating.

c/6

Hooty
