I have a pair of counter rotating 200 Mercs 1992 600 hrs. They were winterized and de winterized this spring. Both first started ok, but after idling and running about 1 mile at 1200 rpm then going to 5000 rpm, port motor shut down. It finally restarted, but same thing happened. Upon inspection the first piston seized and the head cracked. The marina that did the winterizing said it was caused by a lack of fuel, perhaps from a bad pickup, and that Mercs were known for this. They also claimed that they had trouble starting the starboard engine but when they switched tanks for testing, everything was ok. It does not seem right. I don't think it was from faulty oil injection because it happened to only one cylinder. Any thoughts? Thanks
