I have a 2005 FD 161 with a 90 hp 2-stroke mercury and I can't tube anyone. With one or two people on the boat (no tube) it will get up on plane in about 10 seconds with the hydrofoil. But and if we try to tow someone on a tube the boat tops out at about 13 mph and needs 15 mph to get on plane and it revs up to 4,000 rpms and stays there. But when your not trying to tube as soon as you hit 14-15 mph it zips right up to 35-40 mph and the rpms shot up to around 5,200. Anyone ever had this problem? Im constering a couple posiblities: a) The prop flex and I need to get a stainless Steel Prop b) The engine just bogs down under load. c) I need to get a new boat. Anyone got any advice?
Thanks
John
