basically my boat has had a whack or summit on the back at some stage as has been filled up and was a really bad job. But this weekend a crack has opened up (crack was there all along)
Its from where the back panel starts to drop for the outboard to the same point on the opposite side. and its on the top of the boat 25mm from back edge. Looking at it from inside the ply is twisting at this narrow point and has broke the filler resultng in the crack. hull will be scrapped after this year or ill have a tinker tidying up but want some advise for time being.
thinking of either extending engine bolts to a futher forward point to take some weight or more the pivoting off the back panel, running a steel plate or another sheet of ply the full length of the back to bulk up the current panel and stop the twisting, or finally make a framework that the engine will bolt too that will spread the weight to the thickest points of back panel.
Currently and movement of the engine twists this narrow point in the back panel opening up the crack,
That will close the crack up and should cure any prob in future but should i open crack up and fibreglass up or just fill over it??
