Hey everybody, I've been tackling my steering cable problems on my Bayliner Trophy 2002, I finally got it off and fished the new cable through but there is not enough clearance in the splashwell for the Tilt tube to line up properly and will need about a half inch diameter cut out but then I run into the issue of pluging that up and I don't want to, so I'm at the point of unbolting the engine bolts enough so I can rock it to see if it works and if not I want to go ahead and remove the engine all together so my question and advice I need are once I remove the engine what parts do I need to replace when removing an engine and remounting , i e rubber washers Etc . it looks like there's some rubber washers? Can anybody help what those are called and what else i should do.

Called Dowty washers or sealing washers and are sold at any hardware or big box store. Try to find stainless ones so they don't rust or reuse the old ones with some 3M 5200 or 4200 sealant to smear in the holes and under the washers.

5200 is permanent and 4200 allows removal. 4200 is probably best.
