need to change both gimbel bearings, out drive is off.my question is do we have to remove the bell housing?after we got the outdrive off, theres 6 bolts that hold some kind of seal.some bolts come out ,others turn, thinking there is nuts on the other side?

engine is all dissconnected, wondering if we have to get the bell housing off to get at the nuts,

The six bolts behind the upper gear box need to be removed. They do not have nuts on the back. Once the bolts are out, you can use one of the bolts to thread into one of the other threaded holes in the locking ring to jack the ring off the seals, releasing the flywheel cover, which holds the bearings you're after, from the transom shield. Once loose, you remove the engine and flywheel cover in one piece.
