engine removal

i have a 1968 evinrude sportsman 120 i am replacing the motor on.....it has the electric shift transmission......i have all the bolts that hold the block to the outdrive out......i can get about a half inch of space between the block and the flywheel cover, but the engine will not come out all the way......what am i missing?.....thanks dave

drive shaft to the stern?? cant lift engine out straight up.. has to be sorta pushed foward to clear the shaft from flywheel, i did my v-6 last year and put it back also w/o taking the stern drive off, shop wanted $585 labor to pull motor i figured d.i.y save that towards parts. and dont forget to disconnet the wires , shift linkage etc etc

i have tryed prying it apart with a prybar and it still does not want to come out.....i almost broke some of the aluminum housing that it bolts too......
