Engine removed, what else should I do?

I removed my engine (signature boat) and I'm not going to replace it until spring. Is there anything I should inspect, tighten, replace etc. before the engine goes back in? I was thinking I should have a look at the exhaust shutters while they're easy to get at. What about those two bolts on the bottom of the transom assembly with the anode caps. Do those caps just pop off or do the bolts have to be replaced?

Re: Engine removed, what else should I do?

i had my engine out this summer.
i thought about what else i could do too.
i ended up R&Ring the water hose between the transom and tstat. that and the fiber washers that looked mashed that are part of the engine mounting assy.that was it.
figured if i started looking into what else was wrong i'd never get back out on the water...

i did end up having bilge pump mounting issues later in the summer. wished i'd have delt with it when the engine was out. but i got away with some form of repair while the engine was in place. i also had a trim pump leak. that would have been easier w/o the engine in place. but once again, i got away with repair with the engine in place.
i figured there were plenty of things i could have looked into. but in my case it was boating season and i didn't want to miss a beat. which i didn't. i usually go out on the weekends and did my engine pull and replacement during the week. i also figured that if i did start looking into things that may need some work. i'd open up a can of worms and be repairing far more than i ever imagined. my boat is much older than yours. so there must be defects i'm not aware of. i guess i'll find them as the surface.
imho. the engine pull for me went well. not as hard as i thought it would be. did it by myself too. not one lick of help from anyone (not even iboats). so if something does surface. i'm more confident now that i can get the engine out and move on to whatever i need to address. when whatever problem comes to light.
