Bought a 1990 Bayliner Cobra Bass boat at an auction. It's got the stock 1990 Force 50 motor.
Been working on it for about 10 days since I got it, got it running and took it out onto the water for the first time yesterday.
Nuetral is super wonky, it will start in neutral and run okay for a minute, then it gets possessed by speed demons and decides to start revving out of control until you kill it (or choke it and drop the rpms) then it'll do it again.
If I choke it while it's still in low rpms I can shift it into forward and it works just fine. But then when I put it back in what should be nuetral it just keeps wanting to go forward. But no surges.
Kill it. Turn it back on and the cycle rcycles.
What am I looking for possible causes for this?
