Engine Stall once in reverse

I recently performed some tune-up on my first boat: installed remote oil kit, replaced fuel/water filter separator, change oil, replace spark plugs. The spark plug gap were left at .05 same as the old plugs (the information I found said .06 for my engine but I see that is too wide so I left at .05 as the old plugs). Now the engine stall when I put in reverse initially. If I put in reverse in higher gear then it's fine. I think my issue is the spark plug gap but not sure. Is my problem is the spark plug or something else? Thanks

Ayuh,... I truly doubt it's the plug gap,...

More likely the lower shift cable is failing, 'n dragging, causing the shift switch to shut the motor off...

Do you have any suggestion to fix it or further diagnostic? Thanks

Ayuh,... Watch the shift switch,...
Does it move from it's resting point, when shifting Into reverse,..??

It shouldn't move at all, except when shifting Out of gear, in the water...
