I have a 3l mercruiser tks stern drive. Starts fine idles fine and I can run it at low speeds without problem. But when I try to accelerate to faster speeds whether slowly adding or gunning it , it stalls.

Changed the fuel filter in the fuel pump. The old one was a paper filter and was collapsed, crushed. Never seen it heard of that before.

Motor is getting gas. The line from tank to the pump is clear of obstructions - thought maybe that was causing pressure in the fuel pump bowl that crushed the old filter.

Any ideas?

Thanks for all help.

If you are confident in fuel pressure Probably need to strip and rebuild carb cleaning out passages inside
