Engine Starting Problem Dead End

My 1982 Renken has a 4 cylinder 120 hp OMC engine that won't turn over / start. The last time the boat was in the water the engine quit and refused to turn over or start again. I have a new battery in it (the battery connections are tight), I pulled the starter and had it rebuilt, and had the slave solenoid tested by an electrical shop and it is good. The slave / starter solenoid makes a load click when the ignition is turned but nothing else happens. The throttle is in the neutral position when I try to start it but no go.

Any ideas as to where to go next in my trouble shooting?

Ayuh,... Take all the spark plugs out, 'n try it,..... If there's water in a cylinder, it won't turn over,...

If that don't work, pull the drive to make sure it ain't seized, as it turns with the crank shaft,....

The engine isn't seized. There isn't any power getting to the starter. The starter slave solenoid is getting power through the starter connection but nothing is happening beyond the solenoid clicking.

Can you rotate the belt pulley at the end of the crankshaft with a wrench?

Ayuh,.... Then by-pass the slave, 'n jumper the starter's solenoid,....

Go from the big battery wire terminal to the tiny terminal, Inside, closest to the block, on the starter's solenoid,.....

The starter will then engage, or it won't,....

If not, Pull it,....

'82 should be a Stringer. Have you pulled the sterndrive off and tried starting the engine without the drive on?

The upper gear case on the stern drive is always spinnin' on a Stringer. If it's locked up, it'll freeze the whole shootin' match.

I bypassed the slave solenoid and jumpered the starter and the starter did engage and it turned the engine over. Does this mean that the slave solenoid is bad? I had the solenoid checked out by an electrician and he said it was good. I still can't get the starter to engage when I turn the key at the helm. What should I look at next?

Ayuh,..... Is there Power exitin' the keyswitch starter terminal when it's turned to Start,..??

If so, the wire to the little exciter terminal on the slave solenoid should have Power,......

If it Does, 'n the solenoid don't close, puttin' power to the starter's solenoid,....

Yes, the Slave ain't workin', 'n is probably dead, or possibly just has a bad wirin' connection,....
