Engine Stopped Running

I have a 1978 70hp Mercury. Went out this morning' The engine ran fine for about a 1/2 hour then would not start. After about 15min it started but once I put it in gear it stalled. Same thing about 3 times then would not start at all. It will crank but will not start.<br />Any suggestions on what it could be.<br />Thanks
