I have a 1979 26 foot Fiberform with a 255B Volvo pent engine (Chevrolet 350). I can start it up and it purrs like a kitten. I go out on the lake and use it for a few hours and then the engine just stops. It doesn't sputter it just stops. If I try and start it again it fires but immediately stalls. If I wait 15 minutes or so I can start it again and operate it a very low RPMs back to the dock. The engine failure occurs when I am running around 3000RPMs. I have changed the fuel filters (both external water separator and carburetor intake filter) same problem. I thought it was bad fuel and so I drained the fuel tank and still the problem continues. I thought it was the carburetor and so I put a new Richter carb on and still the same problem. I just ordered a new fuel pump and will try that. If the problem continues I will reroute to a above deck fuel tank and see if that solves the problem. If not, I have no idea what to try next. Does anybody have any ideas?

When it dies, open the gas cap and listen to see if you hear air suck in. If that's what happens, its the tank vent line
