Engine stops running

[HDSG06]

I have a volvo 5.0 efi and when i turn key it starts and runs like a charm until you release the key and it goes back to the run pos then it kills power to the engine and it cuts off does just like when you pull the safty switch.Any ideas on what to check or what it could be THANKS

It could be alot of things! More descriptive info plz. Do you loose power to your gauges too? It could be a loose connection to your EFI, loose connection any were. Does she start back up? Does it happen when it's hot and running for awhile?? I am just trying to get a little more info, so don't take my questions the wrong way, A little more descriptive info helps us to help you

Based on the info Provided I would guess you have an ignition key switch that has failed... seems like its cutting the ignition voltage off in the run position...

But some more info may help to narrow that down.

99% bad ignition switch.

Thanks,Yes it will start right back up,and i have lost power to gauges,It just cuts off when i release switch back to run pos.If i hold the switch over she runs like a top.All lights,trim works fine

The ignition switch seems like the obvious answer, but here is another angle for you in case its not:

I had a Jeep Comanche pickup that did the same thing. I replaced the ignition switch and hassled and researched for a long time on it. What I eventually found was that it had a bad fuel pump relay. The current goes through one path for starting, and another for running. I swapped around the relays until I figured out which one it was, then replaced it. The fix cost $6. I am not suggesting you go on a wild goose chase, but it is possible there may be a similar setup on your engine, and it might be good to look in the service manual to see if there are similar relays.

Thanks for help so far here is what i have now.Tryed new switch and it works but now i hive found thatfuel pump dont work if i use a jumper wire from tha ignition side of solenoid to the ignition module the electric fuel pump works and ingine runs fine,but when i pull the wire fuel pump quites and it wont fire,and eather way runing or not i have no gauges,and again thanks
