Engine stops when up to temp

Hi everyone

Have just replaced the long block on mercruiser v6 4.3 vortec, but when I'm trying to adjust the timing the engine stops and won't start after about 10 mins running.
I'll leave till the next day and it starts fine again for another ten minutes and then stops again.
Seems to only want to run when cold.

Used all the ancillary parts from previous engine which were in good order, reason for new block was dropped valve and ruined cylinders and pistons.

Was running perfect before this.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Ayuh,.... When it Dies,.... Does it loose it's Spark, or it's Fuel,..??

You've gotta check to see what's missin'....

I believe its electrical problem a the carb is getting fuel

Ayuh,.... Then You have to figure out where it's got Power, 'n where it Ain't....

Get a test Light, 'n follow the testing found up in the Adults Only section, at the top of this forum...

As I said engine runs but stops when its up to temp 175

Also I have just remembered that when brought new spark plugs the shop didn't have the same ones as the original engine so gave me an equivalent.

Same reach gap etc

I believe the original were Ngk but the shop in spain doesn't sell them

Could this be a problem once the engine heats

Id be looking at the Ignition module.

if the oil pressure switch is faulty it will stop the supply of 12v to the fuel pump.if you can rig a multimeter or a bulb to see where your losing volts it may tell you whats playing up.if it is the oil pressure switch you can use a jumper wire temporarily to c if this the faulty component.(between two wires that connect to the pressure switch and its near the oil filter.)if you cant start till the following day this may be the fault.
if not see if the coil is cooking itself.

Oil presure switch was faulty and I have made a jumper wire for the time being

Just can't figure out why it runs fine then stalls once warm

so when this happens, is there spark or is there not?
