So my motor is shot. Rebuildable yes but non running at the moment. It's the old 4cyl and is about 165hp in a 21ft boat. It ran well for a long time but now that it needs to be rebuilt I wonder if I should upgrade to a 4.3L. I can get a turn key 4.3L for an extremely good cost so I'm not worry about the money there. The 3.7L will be about $4400 (removed, rebuilt and reinstalled) So my question is it possible to put the 4.3L in with out too much of a headache.

If you are replacing the engine along with the drive and transom shield, and you have stingers in the boat for side motor mounts, yes it's a FAIRLY easy change. But if you are trying to change engine only, then you may have a lot of problems.

Ayuh,.... You'll have to define "too much of a headache".

It's Not a Plug & Play situation...But not all That hard in My book...
