engine swap?

before the winter my brother in law said he "winterized" my i/o 89 4.3 mercruiser, when i started it up this year there were 2 cracks in the side of my block and water pouring out everywhere, i asked him what the hell and he tells me "i dont work on inboards how was i supossed to know", i have a buddy who has a 4.3 v6 out of a old chevy truck, would it be possible to change the blocks out and rebuild on the chevy block or do i need to get another mercruiser block. someone help!!!thanks

yeah i dont really feel like driving all the way to another state to pick it up, i just really need to know if the engine swap will work, but that sucks about your boat thats why drunk drivers suck
