Engine swap

I have a 1996 Marada with a 3.0 Volvo. I was wondering if I can put a bigger motor in that will bolt up to the stern drive? Any advice ,it's not junk the motor just seems to be way underpowered for my boat.

welcome aboard

while other motors may bolt up to your outdrive, the gear ratio will be wrong for anything other than the 3.0. you can swap gears, however that does get pricey.

sell your 3.0 and drive as a package and move up to a 4.3 or bigger with an outdrive (as a longtail package). however your going to have a bit of fiberglass work to make new motor mount pads for other motors as the 3.0 is mounted on the front of the block and the 4.3 and bigger motors are mounted on the sides of the block
