engine sweat?

Continuing adventure/saga...1971 Merc 888 Ford 302, PreAlpha. I was running the engine on muffs today and noticed sweat-like moisture on the port side near the back two exhaust manifold brackets. I could not tell a specific location where the moisture was coming from and could barely discern a drop forming under the two longer manifold bolt heads. I thought it might be condensation or left over dampness from a recent rain storm, but it did not burn off. The area around the front two cylinders is dry. Also, I don't know if this is related, but all of the water hoses on the engine got warm except for the upper port side hose (connects to the riser)I had the rise off a couple of months ago and it looked OK. Any ideas?

Could it be from a thin spot in the manifold beginning to leak?

Re: engine sweat?

Upon closer inspection, it looks like the port manifold might be the original one (#65604)that came with the boat (34 yrs old?!) I think I will start with replacing it to see if that does the trick. The starboard side is an OSCO 5603. Any recommendation for a source for OSCO manifolds?

If you replace one side, replace them both or you will end up with one side hotter than the other.
While your manifolds look a bit different, check the areas of your manifold like in the picture below.

Don,

I'm surprised and shocked. You, of all people, should know better than that!!!

888's only even ran 'end rise' manifolds and here you are posting a picture of a 'centre-rise' unit. Shame on you.....

Chris........... :D

Its OK, achris, he qualified it that although the manifolds look different, the concept is the same.

It's OK achris, he qualified it as looking different, but the concept is still the same.
