Ok here's what happened. First trim would work then not. Then it would again. Well went to pull boat from lake and wouldn't raise at all. So removed trim cylinders and tied up and tied motor up also. Fluid was low. Well the down button worked and up didn't so I replaced solenoid. Still up button didn't work and didn't make noise. So pulled out the tester. No power from switch to solenoid. So removed throttle and switch worked fine. So cut the wire coming out to the solenoid and ran one from there to it to test. Now its working. But still cylinders not coming out. Looked like fluid might have air bubbles or foam. Im now thinking maybe an air lock up and needs bleed. But not positive. And to bleed could i crack a line and just run? Any ideas?

Re: Engine trim problems

Hi there viper, you forgot to mention what engine model and year you have. Once we know that we'll be able to help you out a little bit better. Also we'll be moving your thread to the proper forum once we know what model you have. Good luck.

Have the same with my Yamaha 150 now. Trim on cowl works. On shift/throttle it works down but not up. Switch in the shift/throttle is being replaced.

I have the same situation with my Merc 90 2 stroke outboard. I believe the switch (handle)to be bad as well, just haven't fixed it yet.
