My boat pulls to the right when I let go of the wheel. I moved the tab to the left with no change. Does'nt this tab act like a rudder or did I move it in the wrong direction?

Re: engine trim tab

Welcome to iboats. Yes, it does act like a rudder to correct a 'pull'. Try going the opposite direction and see if it is better. It does not allways correct this. You may have a bent skeg, inballanced prop, or bent propshaft. If she is an alluminaum hull, look for a dent underneath. You can also tighten the steering up. All outboards pull, from variables in torque produced by waves, cavitation, but if it's real bad, chances are it's one of the above.
