I have a 1990 Force 120hp L-Drive. It has always run fine until this year. Suddenly I can not start the engine. It turns over very slowly, and will not start.

If I remove the spark plugs the engine turns over normally. To slow the starter down again all you have to do is place a finger in (1) of the plug holes.

Please advise if you have ever heard of such and any suggestions as to what my problem may be.

Thanks

Check the state of the Battery.

Jump the starter directly with a different battery.

If it continues to turn over slowly...replace the starter.

If it speeds up...start from the Battery and work forward...ie charged battery...and wires.

TMD
