Hello,

I just bought a boat with a 90 Mercury S/W engine. It performs very well but I have an area of concern. Between 1000 and 2000 rpms there is quite a bit of vibration. The dealer mechanic said that this is due to the carburators switching stages. I believe him, but I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks for any info.

Regards,

Gary

Howdy, Gomalley.

I assume you are talking about a new or late model 3 cylinder Merc. 90.

They are rough at idle and erratic in transition from idle. That is normal for that engine.

I don't like it either, but every one I have used did that.

Good luck. :)
