1979 Johnson 25 HP, model # on the way.

I finally started up the old timer, and after removing the top cover, water starts spitting up from between the maine engine and the exhaust housing i presume. It seems to be spitting up the left and right side, and also trailing down the exhaust housing.

Is it just a gasket missing? Can i use a silicone sealant to prevent water from coming back up? What's the easiest/best thing to do?

Thanks

Re: Engine water leak

Best bet is to start by picking up a copy of the OMC service & parts manuals. They will have diagrams and procedures to do anything you can think of to that motor.

Can you post a picture of where the water is comming from (try Photobucket for image hosting)? Silicone sealer is fine for calking windows but should not be used on an engine.
