Am going to purchase some water muffs so I can try my I/O out BEFORE, I haul it to the lake.

Are the ones say at Wally World o.k., or is there a difference that the boat dealerships have??

Either way I guess the $ is irrevelent, just wanted to get one today, and the boat shop is 90 miles away.

Thanx

The ones at Wally World are ok, I would recommend tying a piece of small diameter rope to them to prevent them from slipping off.

O.K., thanx !!!!!!!

The boat has only got 12.4 hours on it, and about 5/10's of this is from winterizing it last year.

I just don't want to get to the ramp, and be one of those who "hold up the process of loading/unloading". ;)

When I start the boat, if I jsut let it run in neutral, that should be fins shouldn't it ??

How long is "safe" to run the boat in "neutral", without damage ??

Thanx

Have a look at the summerization sticky at the top of this forum.
You can run in neutral forever if you want, but I would at least allow it to get to operating temp, shift gears and make sure everything works.

Running the boat at idle in neutral is not an issue and there is no advantage to prolonged idling. Get the boat in the water, dock it, park the tow vehicle and trailer, get in the boat and go. You boat has a temperature gauge and oil pressure gauge -- monitor them closely. If the engine is not up to temperature when you leave the dock run slowly until it is and then hammer down. There is no need to let an engine idle for more than five minutes.

204, I do this every time I head to my nearest lake. I simply do it to make sure everything is working before I launch the boat. Since my nearest local lake is only 15 minutes from home I look like a professional launching my 35 year old I/O boat. Does me good to see a lot of the newer, much fancier boats get launched and sit their cranking and stalling several minutes before they can get going. ;)

Good luck!
