I have a 1984 Thundercraft with an OMC 4 cyl. 120 HP I/O engine. I bought it last summer and had no problems. This past summer I took it out once and had to spray some carb cleaner to get the engine to start. However, a week later the engine won't start at all. The engine turns over and cranks but does not start. I am somewhat inexperienced with engines. I replaced the ignition coil, and the battery is brand new. The spark plugs look alright. Could it possibly be the fuel pump from what I described? What else may it be?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Sonny

Re: Engine will not start

Need to Start with basics :

We need to know does it have Spark ? Does it have Fuel at the Carburetor and does it have engine compression ?

Holding the Spark plug wire away from anything metal around the engine about 1/4", Hold it with some kind of Insulated plyer, have someone Crank the motor and see if you have spark ( caution: not in front of a spark plug hole )

Look into the carb and Pump the accelerator, Do you see a Shot of fuel go in ?

You will need a compression tester for testing Cylinder Compression, OR Turn over the engine and listen to it, Is it cranking with exteme ease ? Or does it sound like its Chugging Normally ?

PS..You can subsitute the fuel test with starting Fluid, Please be careful and dont shoot the Starting fluid in while CRANKING. Only shoot some in and then Crank to Start.
