Recentlypurchased '79 Grady White Gulfstream 205 with a 470Mercruiser 4cylinder. After putting recharged bateries in fired right up. Turned off engine and then went to re-start and only heard a click. Found the fuse blown that runs from the Key/ignition.

Have replaced 25 amp fuse three times and the same thing keeps happening.

An ideas what could be causing this.

With an ohm/multi meter, perform a continuity test between the tripping line & ground. maybe shorted to ground.
could be the random solenoid internal short as Bt said.
Be very careful of information given by me,,,

BT Doctur - right on! I finally got some time and checked a bunch of wires which looked good so decided to try and change the solenoid ($15 at the local NAPA).

Fired right up, also kicked on a dead bilge pump and light.

Should be ready to go. THANKS
