Re: engine wont start

Hi Rob
Sounds like you have things covered pretty good. You have good compression in the cylenders. What were the #s? You have spark. Do you have spark at the right time and place? You have fuel to where, the carb, the crankcase or the cylenders? Try a small squirt bottle with premix in it and give the carbs a squirt while cranking. Then try a little squirt under the plugs. You should get at least a pop some where. I wouldn't throw the towel in just yet. Let us know what you find.

Welcome to iboats.com, Rob!
If the compression is good, the lower unit is clean, and you went thru all that so far, I would definately keep on trying...You're allmost there.

Is it lacking spark, or you don't know? Try takin some mixed fuel, and putting it into a clean windex (or equivalent) bottle. Give the carbs a squirt or two of fuel directly in thier throats, and crank. If it don't sputter and try to run, you can bet it's ignition.
It may be the kill circuit, and if this motor aint mounted, I'll bet a dollar against a donut that's the problem. Disconnect the black with yellow stripe wire from the terminal block at the motor. If it regains ignition, iether the igintion switch, mercury switch, emergency lanyard switch are defective/. this wire connects to ground to kill the engine. One caution..Do this with no fuel line connected, and just a squirt of fuel. Because if the engine runs, you wont be able to shut it down.
I'm wishin ya luck.

Re: engine wont start

I have narrowed it down to the flywheel the book says if it has a good ohms reading and bad voltage reading then it should be the flywheel hopefully the book it right.
