engine wont start

i have a 2000 232 captiva. started with no problem a few days ago, but now upon starting , engine cranks, but will not turn over. also noticed when i turned the key, no alarm chime sounded. seems to be getting power, lights work etc., but engine wont turn over..any advice?

may sound silly but when this happened on our Rx1 captiva we had the safety switch off - hence it wouldn't turn over and the other things had power.
We kinda felt silly

I am going through same issue. Is your boat EFI? I just found out my battery power was too low for the EFI to properly run. I was given the advice to use a Cranking battery with 800 or more CCA instead of deep cells. I have a 5.7L efi year 2000. also want to look at the corrosion on distributor cap and ignition sensor inside distributor.
