Hey guys, I know most people can't get they're engine to run, but I can't get mine to shut down. I'm wondering if I have something wired incorrectly in the control box (ignition switch is a new Sierra replacement). The motor seems to bog down about 500 rpm when I turn the key off or pull the lanyard but it won't shut off. Any help is appreciated.

did you just changed the power pack, ignition switch?

check the wires, ignition switch... they tend to corrode and not make good contact....

Re: Engine won't stop?

Hey guys, I checked and double checked the wiring in the controls and they're correct. I wired the red plug on this motor because the previous owner didn't have one on it but that's idiot proof, red to red, p/w to p/w etc. The only thing I have learned is that I'm losing 2 cylinders when I turn the key to the off position or pull the lanyard. If I pull either of the 2 plug wires on the right (facing from back) nothing happens, but if I pull either on the left it shuts off immediately.Any ideas? Thanks again!
