Checked cables for continuity and corrosion. looked and tested good. One wire had no continuity. the red yellow wire that connects to the starter and the starter solenoid.

starter was tested and it worked just fine.

any suggestions?

You have a slave relay that sends power on the yellow/red wire to the starters solenoid. If you tested the starter and its solenoid and they work correctly ,the slave relay is not sending power from the Red/ or red /purple to the yellow/ red wire going to the starters solenoid.

Jumping a solenoid is a good way to ruin a solenoid, but as boat dr just described, id suspect the solenoid too. In which case, id jump that puppy till a new one came :D

Why? Other than the potential damage because of the arc'ing, there isn't anything really that could affect it. And the arc damage can be contained to the nuts, don't jump it to the threaded post.

(and if you use jumper cables, just clamp one end on the cable going to the starter, and jump to the battery. zero chance of damage!)

Battery positive straight to the starter (jumping the starter solenoid in reality) should spin the already checked good starter to crank the engine. If that doesn't work, you have engine problems,.if the batteries have been fully charged and load tested, AND the ground wire is indeed clean shiny metal and tight both at the batter and the engine casing! There is No other reason!

I have been thru many engines and starters, GM280 makes a great point, if the ground is not clean and tight and your not using the proper gauge wire you can fry the wire and not get any power. If you jump the starter and nothing and your sure the wires are grounded and tight then manually turn the crank once to make sure the starter isnt stuck in place, then try again, if nothing then more than likely the starter is shot. Can also hit it a few times maybe break it loose....but only if your fairly certain its bad...just some thoughts.

Well, i once had an old chevrolet and the steering column was busted so to drive flipped a switch and the crossed the solenoid under the hood, eventually after a few months the plastic solenoid had become so badly burned and weakend that it snapped apart. Come to think of it i had a motorcycle i did that to as well.

Since the solenoid does what a screwdriver does I would blame it on to much pressure or the solenoid was about to go anyway.

well need some help. got it running again but again had problems starting 1 time. now it will not start. solenoid changed, keyswitch changed, all wires clean. starter keeps clicking like it does not have the power to turn the fly wheel. need help big time, family vacation on friday.

could the starter be weak? it was tested and they said it was all good.
