i have an chevy 5.7 with an omc cobra . i changed all the lifters and rebuilt the carb . all the cylinders on 1, 3,5,7, are firing motor runs barley , but 2,4,6,8 have spark , but the hole bank is dead . i heard theres a shut down of some type to shut have the motor down to shift into gear . the switches on the motor work to do this tested them . i have spark on all 8 cylinders . is there a way to bypass this to make all 8 cylinders run again to figure out if its the moduler that is bad . it has points dist. also , firing order is correct for sbc if the boat motor doesnt reverse fire . not sure though . thanks

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,.... So what was the problem,..??

I'm sorry I didn't post when I saw this, but I couldn't think of any reason except ya over tighten the valves on that side,....

It's an odd problem, which limits answers,...

It's also a very busy time of year, 'n OMCs aren't so common anymore,....

Sorry yer experience here at iboats was less than helpful,....

Good Luck,....

F.C.B.,

Glad to hear that you fixed your issue, and in this case on your own. I too had a problem that I fixed on my own with only one common suggestion that I had already tried. However, I went ahead and posted all my troubleshooting and my final fix so that others could follow up later.

I think most of us just brows the site in our free time, but many of us are helping two and three others at a time when we know the most likely answer or we have lived it in the past. It is a great site and helps many, so please be a pal and give us the run down of your issue and fix if you would be so kind.

Hopefully we can help on your next difficult issue.

Also, just a friendly suggestion, use a more specific title as a better lure may catch more fish.
Hope you have a better experience next time.

Best regards,
