I have a 125 mercury 2 stroke outboard, made in 2000. I'm performing a slew of diagnostics. The enricher valve on this engine is electrical. When I push the key in (or press the button on top of the enricher itself) it delivers gas to the cylinders.
To test it I removed the inbound fuel line to the value. Squeezed the primer bulb, and got a good stream of has come out. I then reconnected that line and disconnected the outbound fuel line at the enricher. Then I primed the bulb again and pressed the button on top if the valve a squirt of fuel came out (a tablespoon maybe two). I repeated the same by pressing in the ignition key.
So is a tablespoon or two of fuel indicate the valve is working properly? It doesn't seem like enough fuel to get a cold motor started.
Generally a cold start requires 5 to 8 turns of the key on my engine. Although I will prime the bulb again after a few turns of the key the bulb gets firm in a couple of squeezes, implying the carbs are full.
Thanks.
