Does anyone know where i could get a price on a 350 mercruiser with a drive combination. Or does anyone have any idea how much something like this will cost

If you are planning on doing a repower, I would suggest you go with a Volvo and the Duoprop drive instead of the Mercruiser. The transom cutout would be the same.

Hey Don S ,
Are you saying that the Volvo drive sytem will interchange with the OMC Cobra system? I was just wondering for future reference incase I can repower later. Thanks!

No, I said the cutout in the transom is the same.
Of course there are kits you can install on some OMC Cobra engine/drive combinations to attach the Volvo SX/DP-S drives to the OMC Cobra transom shield. The kit includes an engine driven raw water pump, hoses, and brackets, transomshield pivot housing (Bellhousing with ujoint bellows) spacers for the trim rams and some other goodies.
Here is a couple of pictures of one I did about a year ago on a 28' Bayliner with a 460 Ford OMC.

This one shows the gimbal ring with the new pivot housing installed. you can see the shift cable sticking out for the new shift setup.

Re: Entire engine outdrive combo

Lots of people want to do the same thing, that is why I do many repowers a year.
But when doing a repower, we look at the boat, talk with the customer, find out what the overall expectations are, get prices and give options.
Right now, you are looking for a repower, the fact is, they ain't cheap. But if you like the boat, and it's in good shape, then a complete repower is probably the best thing to do.
Now, just out of curiosity, what kind of boat do you have and what are you expecting from the repower. Do you want to go fast, pull skiers, fishing, no one knows anything other than you have a Formula.......well, Formula made more than one type boat, so how about some info and possibly some pictures.

There are really only 2 ways to do a Repower......

Those with Deep Pockets can walk into a Merc. Dealer,+ order a Complete Power Package.........
Probably Starting around $15,000.00..........

Then there are people like Me, with No Pockets........ :D
Go out + find a complete running boat with the driveline you're looking for, Buy the boat,+ take it home............
Now, Junk out the boat you just bought,+ Install the driveline into the boat you had......... ;)

I have a 1976 formula 233 this boat is in great condition physically. We do alot of fishing and im looking for a reliable way to get out and back, I dont want to break down 30 miles offshore if you know what i mean. Im looking for an engine around 300hp maybe a little less. But reliability is my number one concern.

From time to time Flagship has new and / or nearly new take-outs. Talk to Tom or Jack at 800-282-2840.

Definitely cheaper to buy another boat and switch the engine. Find one that's been hulled, or without the trailer on ebay. You can buy them all the time for under 6 and 800 dollars. Most of them are up and down the eastern seaboard, too, which should make it somewhat easier on you. I've got an older Formula. I can't get any info on it, not even off their site. Would you send me a picture or two of yours, if you have them? Or post them here, but my email is foster.james@lincoln.navy.mil Thanks Good luck with your situation.

What I meant was to get your package from a different boat. One draw back. I would never install a motor without rebuilding it. If not it really sucks to find out you have a new/different "dog" under your motor cover.
