According to page 4B-22, you should replace synthane washers with Epoxy. I think I read another Mercruiser manual that said you should epoxy the old washers.
  1. Would you just use epoxy, or would you epoxy the old washers to the gimbal surface?
  2. To which surface? The bell housing or the gimbal ring?
  3. Which epoxy would you use? (I imagine there are plenty of non-OEM substitute options)
Thanks!

Looks to me they mean replace with new, and epoxy into place, on the gimble.

What manual or bulletin did this come from?

At the bottom right of every page is shows (Part Number) 90-12934--2. So I'm guessing Service Manual #6? But I'm not that well versed with how their manual and part numbers correspond.

EDIT: Actually it does seem to correspond to Manual #6

Agree looks like it is in manual 6, appears if the washer is worn, it is filled with epoxy and the ground down (grounding not specified) to get proper clearance. In Gen II manual 14. states the same except replace the washer with new. I would suggest replacing the washers, and if the clearance is over spec then replace the gimbal ring

OK I think I'll just buy new ones and start there. Thanks for the replies. ;)
