there are two switches. one is called the Overstroke switch. i see how it works but what does it do?
the other one is called shift interrupter. i dont see what activates it? does it work off of friction?
I installed an upgrade elect package to remove the points and the esa no longer works. I have the diode fix but have not done it yet.has any body done this?

Re: ESA. ( elect. shift assist)

I noticed your response on the other post so you have evidently read Stuart's web site. In it he states that the ESA will NOT work without the diode fix. He said he did it and it works fine.

The interrupter works by rolling up and down the W shaped lever. The overstroke is a bypass of the interrupter in case it gets hung up. If it is getting hung up (not centering itself) you will need to adjust your cables per Stuarts instructions.

Good luck.

IF you installed the factory electronic ignition upgrade kit, it comes with the new style ESA module. The new style modules do not need the overstroke switch as they automatically revert back to normal timing after a few seconds.
