Hello All,
Gamefisher 9.9, Model No. 217-586251
I'm currently rebuilding the lower end on my motor. My question is about the thrust bearing just below the water pump on the drive shaft. The Eska instruction book I have says " the shielded side of the bearing goes towards the water pump". The bearing that was in the lower end was not shielded and I bought a replacement from a bearing company with the same number and that is not shielded. Should this be a shielded bearing? Which way is the thrust on the drive shaft? When the motor is in the normal running position the shaft will naturally drop, I could put the bearing in to support it in that position. However the old bearing was in the other way, so am I to assume when running the thrust goes up?
Ok all you experts, please help me out.
Beat regards, Al
